Cat Found More Than 1 year After Disappearing during Hurricane Ike

January 11th, 2010 by Jeffrey P

Juliet Pennay was in France studying French as Hurricane Ike approached the Gulf Coast in September 2008. Meanwhile, her cat Simon was living with Pennay’s mom and getting ready to evacuate to Pennay’s uncle’s house to avoid Hurricane Ike. As Pennay’s mom was preparing to evacuate the Houston-area, Simon the cat ran-off and was nowhere to be found.

Just last month Pennay was home from France visiting her mother during the holidays. Pennay would take walks in her mother’s neighborhood hoping she might come across Simon, that somehow he survived the wrath of Hurricane Ike. Just as Pennay was about to give up hope, she saw a gray furry cat by the garage of a nearby house. Pennay says her, “heart just dropped,” it was Simon!

With all of the destruction d that Hurricane Ike brought to the Houston-Area, it also brought us some fantastic stories of hope.
