This week could probably be chalked up to experimentation. After thinking we finally had a good way of administering the Dasuquin to Wubba, dissolving in beef broth then squirting into his mouth, we have now reverted back to a treat delivery method. The beef broth injections just really became a hassle. Dasuquin-laced beef broth would get everywhere and Wubba would get really pissed off even though he seemed to enjoy the taste. So, since he rejected the regular cat treats rolled in the Dasuquin, which I remind you is supposed to be tuna and chicken flavored, we decided to give Greenies Pill Pockets a try. Since the pill pockets come with a pre-drilled pocket it is a simple process to just pour the powder into the hole and close the treat up. This technique seems to be the best so far. Not sure what it is, perhaps the pill pockets mask the smell of the Dasuquin better because it’s completely contained inside the treat, who knows?
It has also proven to be difficult to observe Wubba consistently in order to look for any signs of improvement. He probably spends 23hrs a day sleeping in various places, the other 1hr is probably spent eating and making trips to the litter box. Therefore, I have to try to catch him in between feedings and naps because I’m not observing the litter boxes any more than I already have to.
That being said, I have not really noticed any changes in Wubba’s mobility-related issues but it is still early and I am not positive he has been getting the complete dose everyday due to administration problems.
