Dog Park Dialogue

Lots of people including myself love their dogs and it’s perfectly ok to love your dog. That being said, there is a fine line between loving your dog and luving your dog. The incident described here occurred at the same dog park where the great Berner story originated.

One of the frequenters of this dog park was an older gentleman with a poorly maintained feathermullet and his two large standard poodles.

Because I know your curious, this is a feathermullet (ignore the porn-stache)

Because I know your curious, this is a feathermullet (ignore the porn-stache)

We never really conversed with him but he seemed like a nice guy, a little creepy looking perhaps but a nice guy. It appeared as if the two poodles were litter mates but they acted very differently. One of the poodles would go off and frolic and play with the other dogs to some extent. The other poodle however would never leave his side. The interactions between him and this poodle were a little off-kilter. There is nothing wrong with giving your dog a kiss or your dog licking your face, we’ve all been there either intentionally or unintentionally. What I am alluding too is just beyond that and perhaps on the other side of the line I previously mentioned. Now, this entry is not intended to be a direct accusation of un-kosher behavior. Even if this guy was a habitual line stepper, as I believe, the goal of this entry is to merely bring everybody’s attention to a behavior that may get misinterpreted and therefore cause you to lose dog park friends.

Lesson Learned: If you are at the dog park and you are one of those people who tend to be overly affectionate towards your dog, in a proper way, be aware you may get confused with the habitual line stepper and you will be left wondering why nobody talks to you and why everybody seems to leave when you get there.
