I always get a smile out of these inspiring stories so I thought I would share, it may be the only reason you have to smile on a Monday.
When Hurricane Ike hit this area about 10 months ago a lot of people lost their fences including the Bauer family in Clear Lake. While the Bauer family was getting their fence repaired they decided to take their dogs to a boarding kennel in order to keep them safe. Little did they know, the dogs would have been better off at home. The boarding kennel called shortly after to tell the Bauer family they had accidentally lost both of their dogs. The Bauer family was lucky and found Hank in the woods nearby the kennel. The family was not so lucky with Daizy their 4 year old Blue Lacy, she was nowhere to be found.
Two weeks ago some friends of the Bauer family were positive they saw Daizy in a wooded area about one mile from where she had been lost. Joe Bauer immediately got Hank and went to the wooded area with hopes of finding her. Sure enough, in the area where she had been spotted they found her but she had become very skittish in the 10 months in which she was forced to survive outside. Daizy would not come to Joe and her canine companion Hank.
It was not until Kathy Bauer came along and whistled for her, in the same fashion as she did 10 months prior and for most of Daizy’s life, that Daizy came bolting out of the woods and right for her arms.
