The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico Region which includes Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and New Mexico is offering a $500 incentive to those people who adopt a mature wild horse (4-10 years old). The incentive is payable after one year at the time when you receive title to the horse. The overall goal of the program is to reduce the number of older horses in the BLM’s care. If the program is successful it could reduce the pressure on BLM to sell or euthanize excess horses.

So if you have been considering adopting a wild horse now is the time to act. This program is only being offered on a trial basis for now. For more information check out the BLM-New Mexico Website.
