Hill's Prescription Diet j/d Review

End of Week 1

So earlier in the week I gave an update to correct a statement regarding the price of j/d. Turns out, after my wife went and picked up the 30 lb bag I realized j/d is actually about 2.5 times the cost of the Hill’s Science Diet Advanced Fitness.

So about 1 week into the review I still only know one thing for sure, the dogs still seem to absolutely love the j/d. I do not know if it’s because the j/d is new and exciting or if they genuinely just like the taste or texture more. I do suspect Emma actually likes the fact that the kibbles are smaller than the Advanced Fitness. For the first time ever, she is consistently finishing her meals before Bosley. With the Advanced Fitness and Large Breed Science Diet she would tend to take a mouth full, run off to crunch it up and then return for more. With the prescription diet j/d she never leaves the bowl.

Moving on to the real reasons we are experimenting with prescription diet j/d, that is the claims that your dog will “walk, run and jump better”. Here is what I know…typically the evening of a day when Emma has been very active she tends to act a little stiff, especially after she has been lying down for a period of time and then gets up. In this past week she has had 3 days of what I would consider heavy activity: swimming, running, etc. The evenings of those days I did not once witness her displaying the typical stiff and sore reaction after a day of heavy activity.

In closing, I am not ready to conclude anything yet other than the taste must be good. I am encouraged though by the results so far and will update again after week 2.
