The Houston SPCA made one the largest animal seizures in its history September 23, 2009. Responding to an anonymous tip, Houston SPCA officals went to a home just outside of Houston and discoverd 1,045 animals living in deplorable conditions. The animals included dogs, ponies, birds, hamsters, ducks and turtles. The owners claimed they raise the animals to sell at varioius flea markets (no surprise here).
This is the largest animal cruelty bust I have ever heard about and the local paper is calling it one of the largest in U.S. history. Unfortunately this happens all to often here in the Houston area where roadside flea markets are very common in certain parts of town. I am happy to hear that these shi-theads were busted and hopefully the punishment will match the crime.
