Who Moved My Bone?

This week Emma and Bosley decided to test out a toy that first caught my eye a couple of years ago at the World Series of Dog Shows. I really like the idea of a toy, like the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel , which is more than just something for my dogs to chew on. Like a lot of the toys designed for parrots the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel is designed to stimulate your dogs intelligence and problem solving skills.

As you can see, the toy is basically a plush stump that has three removable squirrels. The three removable squirrels each have a squeaker in their tail. You can also purchase additional replacement squirrels in case your dogs lose one or destroy one (below).

The stump of the toy appears to be really well constructed. The squirrels, well they are ok but if you have a heavy chewer like Bosley who tries to purposely destroy stuffed toys for the delicious stuffing, you should really watch them close. It also might be a good idea to keep a couple of Hide-A-Squirrel Refills

The instructions suggest keeping the stump and squirrels with your dirty laundry for a few days to help stimulate your dogs interest in the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel . Well, as you can see Bosley and Emma didn’t need any stimulation to take interest in the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel . The picture below is about 5 seconds after I put the stump on the ground, maybe 3 seconds.

Overall, the dogs and I really love the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel . Its especially great if you have a multi-dog household because it has 4 different parts (3 squirrels and the stump). So when Bosley is guarding the stump with two squirrels in his mouth there is sill a squirrel for Emma to chew on. So if you are looking for a toy that is more than just a chew toy, I highly recommend the Kyjen Hide-A-Squirrel .
