Rachael Ray’s Nutrish Just 6 Dog Treats Review
So I was in the grocery store last Sunday wandering up and down the dog isle when I came across the new Nutrish Just 6 Dog Treats. Actually, what initially caught my eye was the picture of the Food Network Star, Best Selling Author and dog lover, Rachael Ray on the front of the package. Turns out, one of Rachael’s latest ventures is Nutrish Dog Food and Treats. I am typically skeptical of celebrity endorsed products, of all types. However, I know that Rachael Ray is a dog lover so that gave me a certain level of confidence that she actually cares about the quality and concept behind the product. So, as if the allure of Rachael Ray on the front of the bag wasn’t enough, I was further enticed by a $1.00 off coupon hanging in front of the display. In Extreme Couponing fashion, I quickly added a bag of all 3 available flavors: Chicken, Beef and Lamb.
As the name Just 6 Dog Treats implies, the dog treats only have 6 ingredients! I honestly cannot remember the last time I picked up a product that had such a short ingredient list. Being that we are expecting our first two-legged child later this year, my wife and I have been paying much closer attention lately to the products we use and food we eat. So it was especially refreshing to see a product with such an elegant ingredient list that didn’t leave me having to research a whole bunch of chemicals that I last heard about during Organic Chemistry class at Florida State. So now that I am feeling good about the Nutrish Just 6 Dog Treats, on to the important part of the review, or the tasting is probably more accurate….

I read in the dogfoodadvisor that Rachael Ray Nutrish product Just 6 dog food contains menadione… a controversial form of vitamin K linked to liver toxicity, allergies and the abnormal break-down of red blood cells. How disappointing. Why would Rachael Ray put this in her dog food?? I would be afraid to give this to my dog. Others need to be made aware of this “ingredient.”
