“I apologize for my stupidity.” That is all Lee Epperson had to say after Fannin County sheriff’s deputies and Habitat for Horses discovered 23 dead mini donkeys and 2 dead horses on his North Texas ranch just outside of Dallas in Leonard. Epperson explained to the local news station that he was simply unable to care for the animals because he is unemployed and not really a “country person.” Sherriff’s deputies and Habitat for Horses were fortunately able to save 8 mini donkeys and 7 horses. Epperson is going to face animal cruelty charges for his stupidity, selfishness, and a few other adjectives that I will restrain from printing.
How many times do we see people taking on animals that they cannot care properly care for? These selfish idiots amaze me. How hard is it to pick up the phone and call a group like Habitat for Horses? Had Epperson used even the smallest amount of common sense he could have saved those poor donkeys and horses from a cruel death. There are probably hundreds of rescue groups that would have showed up at his front door to relieve him of his animals. Secondly, what are you doing living on a ranch with horses and donkeys if you are “not a country person.”
