Today Spaz went in for the I-131 treatment of his hyperthyroid. We dropped him off at 9:30 a.m. and 4 hours and $1,703 later it was all over with. Let me tell you this day could not come fast enough.
Spaz had to be off his thyroid medication 5 days prior to his appointment today which meant 5 days of hyperactive, super affectionate Spaz. If you have ever lived with a hyperthyroid kitty you know what I mean. Every night without fail he was running full speed laps around the house and up and down the stairs until the point that he was panting like a dog when he finally stopped. The other side effect of having a hyperthyroid is actually one my wife is quite fond of. Inbetween running laps Spaz became very affectionate to the point that he was trying to crawl up your leg to get attention. If it wasn’t for all of the negative consequences associated with a hyperthyroid my wife would have probably preferred to keep him that way because he became so affectionate.
When Spaz comes home in 3-5 days I will provide an update on his progress.
