Spaz the Cat, a Hyperthyroid and I-131 Treatment

We were finally able to go pick up Spaz yesterday, 5 days after his I-131 injection. Much to my surprise he is not actually glowing in the dark. Apparently Spaz did not want to go #1 very frequently while he was at the clinic. Going #1 is primarily how the level of I-131 radiation is reduced from their system. Since he did not want to go #1 he ended up staying a little longer than he might have otherwise. It does appear the I-131 is doing its job. Just in the 5 days that he was at the clinic after the injection he is already beginning to put some of the weight back on that he lost due to his hyperthyroidism. Not a lot of weight, but anything in a 5 day period is pretty impressive. He is going back in 3-4 weeks to have additional bloodwork done to verify the I-131 treatment was effective. I will update again at that time.

Almost forgot to mention, apparently the actual cost of the whole procedure was $41 less than what we paid. So the final cost was $1,662, yay!
