Loved the reviews - it is nice to see someone else with pets actually doing a long term review. I am in the market for a new vacuum and know I have a chore ahead of me to find the right one - with 6 dogs in the house. Between 2 Giant Schnauzers, 2 Irish Terriers, 1 Corgi/Irish Terrier mix and one Irish Terrier mixed with something else that sheds like a fiend I have killed a Hoover that I purchased as a backup to my Dyson. The Dyson does well but has some serious draw back (I have to move my furniture to get under it) It sometimes sounds like it is really mad about picking up dog hair....I growls and sounds like the power head is coming apart. Reality is - it doesn't pick up nearly as well as it did when it was new. I am really starting to hate the bagless technology - while I am sure it is greener - the amount of dander and dust I get back in my face when I empty it is getting OLD! Your refrence to the "odor elimination by the charcoal filter" is a big seller - I have my Dyson disassembled, washing it at least once a month or it starts to smell like I have been vacuuming vomit - which is a smell that if you aren't familiar with it has to be one of the worst inside a house and it lingers!

Thanks again - I think you have really helped me sort out this hunt (now 6 hours in and had it wittled down between a Kenemore and the Meile)...sounds like this is worth the almost double $$

They are definitely a little pricey but IMO well worth the money, especially if you are adding a Berner to your family. Ours is still running as strong as the day we bought it.

I have been researching vacuums as we are on #4 (or is it 5?) in 8 years and this last one lasted all of 3 months (ok, it was under $50.00) and we have two kiddos, a cat and fingers crossed, will have a Berner by the end of the year.

I'm looking at the Pisces--the model just below the Callisto as we have mostly hardwood floors. After reading your review, I think a Miele will be joining our household soon.
